Land van Wijk en Wouden
The Land van wijk en wouden is a natural reserve which can be reached via Alphen aan den Rijn. This natural reserve lies between Zoetermeer, Leidschendam and Leiden. In the vast pastures you can buy delicious dairy products, straight from the farmers themselves. Traditional products like cheese, butter and eggs, but also freshly made icecream in the summer.

Zegerplas
De Zegerplas in Alphen aan den Rijn is a natural reserve that was created in the 1970s thanks to sand reclamation.
Nowadays the people of Alphen use it as a recreational area.
It offers a beach, a children's farm, cable car, waterskiing, bowling alley, surfing and much more.
Many people from Alphen walk around the lake, as it is a short walk of 4,5 km.

Alphen aan den Rijn
Every Saturday there is a medium-sized market on the Thorbeckeplein.
On this market you can find typical Dutch cheese. You can also buy the traditional Dutch stroopwafels (caramel waffles).
A real Dutch market, one you used to find in all Dutch villages.
At shopping mall De ridderhof there is a market every Wednesday.
Cities
Alphen aan den Rijn
This city has grown much and now has over 70,000 inhabitants.
The city is still growing and vibrant.
Alphen aan den Rijn has a lively city centre with 2 cinemas, a theatre and lots of bars and restaurants.
Alphen aan den Rijn is located only 5 km from the B&B (there is a direct connection by bus from Ter Aar).

Leiden
Leiden is known as the "sleutelstad" (Key city) and houses many students. The city offers many museums, art and culture.
Leiden is also renowned for its architecture. The entire city centre can be seen as one big monument. There are over 2700 monumental buildings in Leiden.
Leiden is located 20 km from the B&B (there is a direct connection by bus from Ter Aar).

Oudewater
Oudewater is one of the most beautiful and vibrant villages in the neighbourhood. Oudewater is officially a city.
This charming city has monuments, a beautiful cityscape and much more.
Oudewater is famous for the so-called heksenwaagh, a tourist attraction of renown.

Ter Aar
Ter Aar is the village that is nearest to the B&B.
Ter aar has a large supermarket (Digros), pharmacy (DA and Kruitvat), Hema (convenience store), a bakery, a greengrocer and a butcher.
A small city centre for your daily groceries. Ter Aar also has one of the largest Intratuin outlets (home and garden).
Boskoop
Boskoop is a village with many nursery gardens. Of interest is the museum of nursery gardens.http://www.boomkwekerijmuseum.nl
Nieuwveen
Nieuwveen is a beautiful village. Curious about it's history? You can visit the Oudheidkamer. Thanks to the Historische Kring Zevenhoven, founded in 1983, the collection of mr. Bosch can still be visited.

Auction hall Aalsmeer
The flower auction Flora Holland is also worth a visit. From our B&B it is a 15 minute drive. You are welcome from 7 AM. This is the best time to see the entire process.
